Women's Lacrosse Falls on the Road at No. 2 Pace

PLEASANTVILLE, N.Y. – Junior Ivanna Hernandez (Bay Shore, N.Y./Brentwood) scored the opening goal of the night, her only of the game, as the New Haven women's lacrosse team dropped a 20-10 decision to No. 2 Pace on Tuesday night at Pace Stadium. With the loss, New Haven falls to 4-5 overall and 2-3 in the Northeast-10 Conference.

Leading the Chargers scoring on the night was sophomore attack Raegan Bailey (Cheshire, Conn./Cheshire), the only New Haven player with a multiple-goal outing as she racked up five points on four goals and an assist. Hernandez's goal, which came just 44 seconds into the action after Gianna Caprioli (Clinton Corners, N.Y./Franklin Delano Roosevelt) earned the opening draw control, joined five other players who all finished with a single goal.

A pair of Chargers joined Bailey with multiple points on the night with graduate transfer Savannah Ernst (American Fork, Utah/American Fork) and freshman Marielle Colalillo (Manhasset, N.Y./Manhasset) each finishing with two points as they contributed one goal and one assist each. Rounding out the New Haven scorers was Caprioli, Cameryn Antler (Hebron, Conn./Mercy) and Kyra Sparks (Jefferson, N.J./Jefferson Township) who all added a single score.

As a team, New Haven finished the game with 20 total shots, 17 of which were marked on goal with the Setters keeper Samantha Tanguay closing out the win with seven saves. Chargers goalkeeper Gabby Buscemi (East Patchogue, N.Y./Patchogue-Medford) finished with 14 saves, her fourth game of the season with double figure stops and her second time reaching 14 saves on the season.

New Haven will return home for its next outing when they welcome the American International Yellow Jackets to West Haven on Saturday, April 8. Opening draw at Kathy Zolad Stadium is scheduled for 1:00 p.m.
