GARDEN CITY, New York. – Returning to Garden City the University of New Haven Volleyball team took the trip down to Adelphi University to compete in their second match of the Panther Invitational against the Wildcats of Daemen University.

In the opening set it was the Wildcats that jumped out early as the Chargers tried to mount their comeback finding strides late as they got their attackers going on the outside. It was however the Wildcats that closed out the opening set and Daemen taking the lead in the match. In the second set both teams battled going back and forth as 25 points was not enough as the Chargers and Wildcats going point for point for point with each other. Tied at 29-29, it was the Wildcats that pulled away to take a riveting second set of action and take the lead in the match. In the third and the Chargers needing the set, New Haven went on rallies of points taking small leads in the set but the Wildcats clawed back and rallied late to take the late lead, set and match. Macy Brown (Cadillac, Mich./Cadillac) led the Chargers attackers with 12 kills as Michelle Henwood (Guaynabo, Puerto Rico/Academia Maria Reina) posted a double-double with 27 assists and 13 digs in the loss. 

The Chargers now return home and will have their first opportunity to compete on their home floor in their season home opener when they host the Golden Falcons from Felician University the first part of a four match home stand for the blue and gold. Tip-off from Charger Gymnasium is scheduled for 7:00pm on the Charger Sports Network and NE10 NOW and all updates, schedules, and post-game recaps for the team will be available at Newhavenchargers.com.
