WESTMINSTER, Mass. – In a rain shortened single round event, the New Haven women's golf team finished second overall, among a field of seven teams at the Franklin Pierce Ravens Invitational hosted at the Woods of Westminster in Westminster, Mass.
Overall, for the one-round event, the Chargers finished with a combined 312, 28 strokes over par on the par 71 course. Leading the way for New Haven was the combinate of junior Erin Earl (London, England/Saffron Walden County Day) and freshman Sofia Cova (Rome, Italy/German School of Rome) who each carded a 76, which tied for sixth overall in the event.
Following Earl and Cova was graduate transfer Wynter Flores (San Antonio, Texas/Incarnate Word) who closed out the day one-stroke behind them with a 77, while a pair of rookies rounded out the Chargers five, each finishing with an 83 for the day.
The Chargers will return to action in two weeks' time when they head to Albany, N.Y. for the Golden Knight Invitational hosted by The College of Saint Rose. The two-day event will take place at the Pinehaven Country Club, with the first round scheduled for Friday, September 29.
