WEST HAVEN, Conn. – Looking to bounce back at home the University of New Haven Women's Soccer team returned to Kathy Zolad Stadium and hosted the Falcons of Bentley University on a rainy windy Saturday afternoon match.
Bentley had the first few looks pulling shots wide of goal, but New Haven countered with shots of their own. The Chargers were able to defend the counters of the Falcons and controlled the possession through the match but were never able to find the back of the net and find the true breakthrough. Late in the first half Bentley found the back of the net beating Daley to give the Falcons the lead heading into the half. After the break, New Haven had some looks as Alida Bates (Danville, N.H./Timberlane Regional) had a chance on net forcing a diving save by the keeper. New Haven continued to control possession and get chances but and 89th minute own goal saw Bentley up 2-0 and hold on to finish by that final. Caitlin Daley (Norwich, Conn./Norwich Free Academy) finished with five saves in the match as the Chargers registered six shots, four on net.
The blue and gold now take to the road for a pair of matches on the road before they return home to start the month of October. New Haven returns to the pitch on Wednesday September 27 as New Haven takes on the Setters of Pace in Pleasantville New York.
