PLEASANTVILLE, New York. – Following their home stand, the University of New Haven Women's Soccer team returned to the pitch on the looking to continue their road winning streak alive as they traveled to Pleasantville, New York for a meeting with the Setters of Pace University in a midweek NE10 conference matchup.
The blue and gold came out hot in the first half winning the shot column and corners earned as New Haven totaled four corners in the first half of the match. Along with the corners the attack combined for seven shots forcing the Setters keep to make two saves in the half. With the hot start it was however level heading into the half as New Haven looked for a similar outcome as the last time they were on the road, scoring a pair of late goals to beat American International College, in the match against Pace.It was however the Setters that scored first out of the break testing New Haven early to see if they could mount the comeback. The blue and gold mounted four shots in the second half three being on net and forcing three saves but a strong counter by Pace saw them score a second goal in the 77' minute of the match to make it a two goal game. Caitlin Daley (Norwich, Conn./Norwich Free Academy) in the second half on 12 shots notched six saves with two goals against bringing her total to seven saves on 11 shots nine of which were on goal. Five separate Chargers got shots on goal but could not find the breakthrough they were looking for late falling 2-0 to the Setters.
The road stand continues for the Chargers as they continue NE10 Conference play up north against the Hawks of Saint Anselm on Saturday September 30.
