Ahayeva was one of two Chargers to rack up double figures on the afternoon, joined by graduate post player Aurora Deshaies (Syracuse, N.Y./Bishop Ludden) who extended her team and conference lead with her eighth double double of the season with 10 points and 11 rebounds.
Of the two leading scorers, Ahayeva led New Haven from the field shooting 4-of-7 overall including a pair of three pointers from beyond the three point arc. In addition, she added three assists. Deshaies 10 points came on 5-of-11 shooting, while six of her 11 rebounds came on the offensive glass.
Seven other Chargers also found their way into the scoring column on the night as Lindsay Hogan (Bayville, N.Y./Locust Valley) and Makaela Johnson (Hamden, Conn./Hamden) followed the leading scorers duo with seven and six points, respectively. Johnson also matched Ahayeva with a team-high three assists.
As a team, New Haven finished the game shooting 32.7 percent from the field, connecting on 17-of-52 from the field, with four of those buckets coming form beyond the three point arc. The Chargers also added six points at the free throw line, in eight attempts.
The Chargers will conclude a series of back-to-back home games on Tuesday night when they welcome the Assumption Greyhounds to the Jeffery P. Hazell Athletic Center. Tip-off in the Northeast-10 Conference battle is scheduled for 5:30 p.m. with all of the action available live on NE10Now.tv.
