Deshaies Completes Sixth Double Double, Chargers Fall on the Road at AIC

SPRINGFIELD, Mass. –
The New Haven women's basketball team saw its three-game winning streak come to a close on Saturday, dropping a 72-59 decision on the road at American International. Leading the Chargers on the afternoon was graduate post player Aurora Deshaies (Syracuse, N.Y./Bishop Ludden) who completed her NE10 leading sixth double double of the season.

Deshaies led a pair of Chargers with double figures in the scoring column as she finished with a game-high 19 points, connecting on 7-of-12 from the field and was 5-of-9 at the free throw line. To complete the double double she pulled down 10 rebounds, six of which came on the offensive glass. In addition, she added an assist, a steal and a pair of blocks.

Joining her in double figures for the game was junior guard Charlotte Basset who finished with a dozen points, while sophomore Lindsay Hogan (Bayville, N.Y./Locust Valley) added eight and junior Bianca Pendleton (Accokeek, Md./New Hope Academy) chipped in seven off the bench. Bassett finished her afternoon with five field goals in nine attempts, with one ofthose from outside the arc.

As a team, New Haven finished the game connecting on 24-of-58 field goal attempts with just four of those coming from outside the three point arc. The Chargers added seven points at the free throw line in 13 attempts.

Deshaies 10 rebounds led the way for New Haven as they finished with 36 total, winning the battle of the boards with the Yellow Jackets pulling down 28. Hogan followed Deshaies with seven rebounds.

After opening the New Year with two-straight road games, New Haven will make its 2024 debut at the Hazell Athletic Center on Wednesday, January 6 when they welcome crosstown rival Southern Connecticut State University. Opening tip at Charger Gymnasium is slated for 5:30 p.m. in the first game of a doubleheader with the men's team. Unable to attend, all fo the action will be available live on NE10Now.tv.
