Mitchell Scores Late as Chargers Draw with Setters

WEST HAVEN, Conn – After falling to the Yellowjackets over the weekend, the University of New Haven Women's soccer team returned to the pitch as they welcomed the Setters of Pace University to Kathy Zolad Stadium for a NE10 midweek match up. In what was their first home loss of the season to the Yellowjackets, New Haven looked to get back on their winning ways at home.

Through one half of play and headed to the break, things were in a stalemate as Pace and New Haven were level, 0-0 as it was New Haven out shooting Pace 4-3. Caitlin Daley (Norwich, Conn./Norwich Free Academy) had a pair of saves in the first half. In the second both teams found another gear and increased their looks as it was Pace striking first to take the lead in the 51 minute. New Haven, spurred by the pressure of trailing by a goal, locked Pace into their own half of the field and were knocking on the door. With their final minute to go, Emma Mitchell (Edinburgh, Scotland/Liberton) found the back of the net seconds after Riley Drosopoulos (Marshfield, Mass./Marshfield) hit the crossbar, to tie the match at 1-1. Antonia Henao (Caldas, Colombia/Aspaen Los Cerezos) was the Charger that found Mitchell to equalize as New Haven would draw the match against the Setters.

New Haven returns to the road as they travel north to Vermont to take on the Purple Knights of Saint Michael's College on Saturday, October 12th with kickoff scheduled for 2:00 PM.  All updates, schedules, and post-match recaps for the team will be available at Newhavenchargers.com.
