ROCKVILLE CENTRE, N.Y – In their final non-conference match of the season and second to last road game of the year, the University of New Haven women's soccer team traveled to New York to take on the Lions of Molloy University in a midweek contest.
New Haven pressured early as Emily Marco (Endicott, N.Y./Union-Endicott) got an early shot off against Molloy but it was the Chargers defense and Caitlin Daley (Norwich, Conn./Norwich Free Academy) that were put to the test having to come up with big stops early in the match. New Haven defended well but Molloy scored a goal ten minutes before the half as New Haven trailed at the break by a goal. In the second half, Grace Simpson (Norwalk, Conn./Brien McMahon) had an early look but missed wide of the goal. Molloy would score their second goal of the match in the 65 minute of the match as New Haven would fall in the match 2-0 to Molloy. Simpson had a pair of shots in the match as Marco added the early look and Vickie Fleming (Burlington, Conn./Lewis Mills) had a shot as well. Daley would finish with five saves on 15 shots faced by the Lions.
New Haven now returns home for their final home match of the season when they welcome the Hawks of Saint Anselm College to Kathy Zolad Stadium. Kick-off between the Chargers and Hawks is on Saturday November 2 at 7:00PM on the Charger Sports Network on Flo College.
