Chargers Draw in Final Regular Season Home Match

WEST HAVEN, Conn. – In their final regular season match on their home field, the University of New Haven Women's Soccer team welcomed the Hawks of Saint Anselm for their second to last match of the year.

New Haven pressured early as Emily Marco (Endicott, N.Y./Union-Endicott) got the first look at goal, getting a shot off against the Hawks. New Haven had a pair of shots to follow Marco's shot as Grace Simpson (Norwalk, Conn./Brien McMahon) and Vickie Fleming (Burlington, Conn./Lewis Mills) each had looks forcing saves by the keeper for the Hawks. Daley had a pair of saves in the opening half as both teams went into the break level at 0-0. The second half saw more pressure by both teams but the defenses stood strong and did not allow either team's offenses to get going as Caitlin Daley (Norwich, Conn./Norwich Free Academy) finished with five saves for the clean sheet.

New Haven now concludes their regular season with a rematch against Cross Town rivals, Southern Connecticut State University this time at Southern. New Haven topped the Owls in their first matchup at Kathy Zolad Stadium and will look to sweep the Owls. The Elm City Derby will be Wednesday, November 6 with kickoff scheduled for 7:00PM on Flo College. All updates, schedules, and post-match recaps for the team will be available at Newhavenchargers.com.
