Thomas' 19 Leads the Way as Chargers Fall at Saint Anselm

MANCHESTER, N.H. – Senior Davontrey Thomas (Poughkeepsie, N.Y./Poughkeepsie) scored all but two of his team-leading 19 points in the second half as he led the Chargers in a 74-62 road decision at Saint Anselm on Wednesday night.

The 19 points for Thomas was part of three players who finished in double figures to lead the way for the Blue and Gold, with freshman Jah'Likai King (Newburgh, N.Y./Newburgh Free Academy) and graduate transfer Tyler Saint-Furcy (Inwood, N.Y./Lawrence Woodmere Academy) following with 18 and 13 points, respectively. Only four other players would get in on the scoring action with Ethan Simmon (Edison, N.J./St. Joseph Metuchen) and Kyle Kearson (West Haven, Conn./West Haven) each adding four and Joshua Hopson (Jersey City, N.J./MacDuffie School) and Tarese Morse (Springfield, Mass./Springfield) each adding a pair.

Among the three leading scorers, Thomas led the way shooting 7-of-17 overall with three of his seven field goals coming from outside the three point arc. King also finished with seven field goals, two of which from beyond the arc, while his seven field goals came on 24 total attempts.

As a team, the Chargers finished the game shooting 36.1 percent from the field, connecting on 22-of-61 total attempts. Seven of the 22 field goals came from outside the three point arc, while the Chargers were also 11-of-13 at the free throw line.

New Haven also trailed in the battle of the boards with the Hawks taking a 44-31 advantage in rebounding. Leading the way for the Chargers was Thomas who finished with nine rebounds while Hopson followed with a half dozen. All eight players who saw time in the game finished with at least one rebound.

The Chargers will close out a two-game road trip on the weekend when they trek to the capital of the Empire State, Albany, New York to take on the Saint Rose Golden Knights. Opening tip in the weekend matinee is slated for 3:30 p.m. with all of the action available on NE10Now.tv.
