Raining Goals in West Haven as Chargers Top Dominican

WEST HAVEN, Conn. –
On a rainy afternoon at Kathy Zolad Stadium, it wasn't just raining from the sky it was raining goals for the New Haven women's lacrosse team as they posted a 16-6 win over the visiting Dominican Chargers on Saturday afternoon. With the win, New Haven improves to 1-1 in the early season.

Overall, two Chargers racked up a hat trick-plus on the afternoon, led by graduate attack Cameryn Antler (Hebron, Conn./Mercy) who finished with six points on a game-high five goals and an assist. Junior midfielder Gianna Caprioli (Clinton Corners, N.Y./Franklin Delano Roosevelt) finished just behind her with four goals and an assist for five points. Caprioli also added three caused turnovers and three draw controls.

Between the pipes, senior Gabby Buscemi (East Patchogue, N.Y./Patchogue-Medford) was on her mark the entire 60 minutes, closing out her second complete-game, in as many, with double figures collecting 14 saves.

Also joining in on the high scoring afternoon was a newcomer to the roster, graduate transfer Katie Schenk (Southbury, Conn./Pomperaug) who matched Caprioli with five points, hers coming on two goals and a game-high three assists. Among all the scorers, Antler had the most success on the free position arc as she finished 2-for-2, while Caprioli, Schenk, Rebecca Williams (Levittown, N.Y./Division Avenue) and Cypress Levitt (Calais, Vt./Montpelier) all finished with one free position score.

Rounding out the Chargers scorers was Levitt with two goals, and senior Kyra Sparks (Jefferson, N.J./Jefferson Township) and sophomore attackers Caitlin Seleny (Derry, N.H./Pinkerton) and Lucy Shafer (Haymarket, Va./Battfield) who each finished with one goal.
