Buscemi Matches Career-High in Leading Chargers to Road Win at Bentley

WALTHAM, Mass. – With under one minute remaining senior goalkeeper Gabby Buscemi (East Patchogue, N.Y./Patchogue-Medford) came up big with her 18th save of the afternoon to lead her New Haven women's lacrosse team to a key Northeast-10 Conference Victory, 14-13, over the Bentley University Falcons. With the win, New Haven improves to 9-4 overall and 6-2 in the NE10 with three games remaining in the regular season.

Buscemi's 18 saves matched her career-high which she set twice during her sophomore season in 2022, both in conference play. Overall, Buscemi faced 37 total shots from the Falcons, while her team racked up 24 total shots, 17 of which were on goal with 14 of those finding the back of the twine.

Individually, six players accounted for the 14 New Haven goals with all six finishing with multiple scores. A pair of Chargers closed out the afternoon with a hat trick as Caitlin Seleny (Derry, N.H./Pinkerton) and Cameryn Antler (Hebron, Conn./Mercy) both led the way with three goals apiece. Two of Antler's goals came on a pair of free position shots

Two additional players joined them with three points total on the day with Summer Castiglione (Brick, N.J./Brick Memorial) and Gianna Caprioli (Clinton Corners, N.Y./Franklin Delano Roosevelt) each adding two goals and an assist, the only two assists of the day for the Blue and Gold. Ivanna Hernandez (Bay Shore, N.Y./Brentwood) and Katie Schenk (Southbury, Conn./Pomperaug) rounded out the New Haven scoring with two goals each.

For the fourth-straight game, New Haven held a lead in the draw control column, this time is was a slim advantage as the Chargers secured 15 of the 29 total draws. Leading the way individually was Cypress Levitt (Calais, Vt./Montpelier) and Katie Schenk (Southbury, Conn./Pomperaug) who finished with six and five, respectively.

New Haven will return to Kathy Zolad Stadium for its next two games, the final two home regular season games. First on the docket will be a visit from the Adelphi Panthers on Wednesday, April 24 with opening draw slated for 4:00 p.m.
