WEST HAVEN, Conn. – Coming off of its second straight win to open Northeast-10 Conference play, the New Haven field hockey team welcomed the No. 3 ranked East Stroudsburg Warriors to the Blue and Gold turf of Ralph F. DellaCamera Stadium, dropping a 5-0 decision on Wednesday afternoon. With the loss, New Haven falls to 3-4 on the season.
East Stroudsburg held the momentum from the start, however the Chargers defense held strong through the first 30 minutes of action, keeping the Warriors off the scoreboard despite facing 14 first half shots. Freshman keeper Rae Kline (Brookline, N.H./Hollis Brookline) managed six saves in that opening half.
Coming out of the intermission, New Haven turned to Cara Lambert (Sutton, Mass./Sutton Memorial) to mind the cage in the third quarter as she closed out the period with three saves, while facing eight total shots. Kline would return to close out the final 15 minutes of action and add four more saves to close out the contest with nine total stops.
New Haven will jump right back into NE10 action when they next take the field, traveling to Waltham, Mass. to take on the Bentley Falcons on Friday afternoon with a 4:00 p.m. start on the docket. All of the action from the Bentley Field Hockey Field can be seen live on NE10 Now on Flo Sports.
