Game Recap: Women's Soccer |

Chargers Fall on the Road to Panthers

GARDEN CITY, N.Y – Coming off their three-match home stand that saw the University of New Haven Women's soccer team go 2-0-1, the team looked to carry the momentum on the road and into their second conference match as they traveled to Long Island to take on the Panthers of Adelphi University who were nationally ranked 15.

The Chargers played level in the first half with the Panthers in the first half as Caitlin Daley (Norwich, Conn./Norwich Free Academy) faced seven shots in the first half turning away all seven, and making a pair of saves as the defense stayed strong as both squads went into the half tied 0-0. In the second half, Daley and the Chargers were put to the test early as Daley made a quick save before the defense cleared away a corner kick to keep things level. The Panthers would however score to go up 1-0 in the 58 minute. The Chargers threatened as Vickie Fleming (Burlington, Conn./Lewis Mills), Lola Wood (Auckland, New Zealand/Diocesan School), and Janayah Body (West Hartford, Conn./Lawrence Academy) all tested the Panthers keeper but could not find an equalizer before time expired, as the Panthers took the match up 1-0. Daley in the match made seven saves, facing eight shots on net of Adelphis' 18 total shots.

The Chargers continue on the road as they travel to Waltham to take on the Falcons of Bentley University on Saturday, September 28 with kick-off scheduled for 12:00 pm from Bentley Soccer Field in Waltham, Massachusetts. All updates, schedules, and post-match recaps for the team will be available at Newhavenchargers.com.
