WALTHAM, Mass. – For their second straight match, the University of New Haven Chargers traveled on the road as they made the trip to Waltham to take on the Falcons of Bentley University for a third straight conference match up.
Caitlin Daley (Norwich, Conn./Norwich Free Academy) was quickly put to the test as just two minutes in, she faced a pair of shots by the Falcons that carried wide and off the frame of the goal before having to make another pair of saves, this two on-frame forcing Daley to make a pair of saves to keep things level. Vickie Fleming (Burlington, Conn./Lewis Mills) took the Charger's first shot of the game for New Haven but the Bentley keeper made the save to keep it level. Grace Simpson (Norwalk, Conn./Brien McMahon) gave New Haven a look late in the first half but was denied by the Bentley keeper as the two teams went to the half-tied 0-0. The second half played similarly as both teams battled but never found the back of the net as Daley and the defense stood strong. The pressure from Bentley added and in the 83 minute, broke through drawing a penalty in the box that Bentley converted and would stand as the lone goal of the game as New Haven fell 1-0. Daley made 11 saves on 12 shots on goal of the total 29 shots.
The Chargers continue on the road as they travel to New York to take on the Mavericks of Mercy on Wednesday, October 2 with kick-off scheduled for 3:00 pm from Mercy Field. All updates, schedules, and post-match recaps for the team will be available at Newhavenchargers.com.
