Lindstrom Nets Late Goal as Chargers Fall to No. 2 Ravens

RINDGE, N.H. – Facing the reigning national champion and the No. 2 team in the nation, the New Haven men's soccer team put up a late comeback but came up short in a 3-2 road match-up on Sunday at Sodexo Field. With the decision, New Haven falls to 4-3-1 on the season and 0-2 in Northeast-10 Conference action.

The lone Charger to find the back of the net on the day was senior midfielder and captain Adam Lindstrom (Orbero, Sweden/Grillska Gymnasiet) who looked to spark the New Haven offense late in the game with a goal in the 83rd minute. Lindstrom's second goal of the season came courtesy of some assistance from rookie midfielder Luke Fiscella (New Fairfield, Conn./New Fairfield) whose assist on the play was his second of the season and gives him four points total on the year, the most by a rookie this season.

The first Charger goal of the day came courtesy of a misplayed ball off a Franklin Pierce defender as the Chargers looked to play a long ball into the box where the Ravens defender's header to his keeper was off the mark and found the net for the own goal.

For the game, the Ravens held an 18-9 margin in the shots column with New Haven splitting the home teams attempts in half in both the first and second half with four and five, respectively. Defensively, starting keeper Archie Watts (Bristol, England/SGS College) finished with seven saves, a season-high and giving him 18 total on the year. Franklin Pierce also held a 12-5 advantage in corner kick opportunities.

New Haven will next take the pitch on Friday evening when it returns home for its first game in the month of October, hosting the Bentley Falcons with opening kickoff at Kathy Zolad Stadium set for 6:00 p.m. All of the action will be carried live on NE10 Now on Flo Sports.
