WEST HAVEN, Conn. – New Haven Football moved to 2-0 at home and 3-3 overall in 2025 with a 28-14 win over Pace on Saturday.
Zaon Laney (Hoboken, N.J./Rahway) carried the ball 21 times for 143 yards and a pair of touchdowns in the win.
Pace opened the scoring with a 70-yard touchdown pass on its first play from scrimmage before being held scoreless for the next 53 minutes.
Two first-quarter touchdowns from Laney gave New Haven a 13-7 lead after the first quarter. That lead would grow to 22-7 at the half as Evan Cheica corralled a pass that was tipped at the line of scrimmage and backed his way into the end zone from eight yards out.
A pair of second-half field goals from
Liam Quigley (Berkeley Heights, N.J./Govenor Livingston), combined with a garbage-time touchdown for the Setters, resulted in the 28-14 final.
New Haven will host the Western Connecticut State University Wolves on Saturday, Oct. 11. Opening kickoff is slated for 1:00 p.m.
