WEST HAVEN, Conn. – New Haven Volleyball faced the LIU Sharks on Wednesday night, where it came up short 3-1 in the match.
The Chargers came out hot, winning the first set over the Sharks 25-23. The Sharks responded back winning the second set 25-13. The Chargers put up a fight, but the Sharks won the third and fourth set, 25-22 and 27-25, respectively. The Chargers had a total of 46 kills on the night, and
Lauren MacKellar (Grosse Pointe Woods, Mich./Northville) lead with 12 of those kills,
Kassadi Avent (Woolwich, NJ) had 10 kills, and
Victoria Trunkl (Sao Jose Dos Campos, Sau Paulo, Brazil) had nine kills.
Caroline Johnston (Noelnsville, TN) assisted 17 of those kills, and she also contributed two service aces. The Chargers had a total of seven blocks, lead by
Naliah Grannell (Hamden, Conn./Hamden),
Josie Foster (Kurwongbah, Australia), and
Jordan Northcutt (Weatherford, TX).
Payton Malinoski (Homer Glen, Ill./Lockport Township) supported the back row with 11 digs.
The Chargers are back at home on Friday, Oct.10
th, at 6:00 p.m., for the first match of the double-header against SFU.
