Game Recap: Men's Basketball |

Fitzpatrick Leads New Haven to Victory over Delaware State

WEST HAVEN, Conn. – New Haven Men's Basketball hosted the Delaware State University Hornets on Saturday, successfully defending home court with a 65-52 win. Jabri Fitzpatrick (North Brunswick, N.J./North Brunswick) paced the Blue & Gold with 18 points in another standout performance.

Najimi George (Bridgeport, Conn./Kolbe Cathedral) chipped in 16 points in the winning effort.

From the field, New Haven shot 46.8% (22-47), including 52.4% (11-21) in the second half. Connecting from distance was less impressive, as the Chargers converted only six of their 22 attempts from beyond the arc (27.3%).

New Haven had a 41-29 edge in rebounding as Fitzpatrick and Andre Pasha (Syracuse, N.Y./Syracuse Academy of Science) each pulled down nine boards. Stefano Faloppa (Portogruaro, Italy/Holy Cross Prep) was not far behind his teammates, collecting eight misses.

Vere Anthony (Queens, N.Y./St. Francis Preparatory School) was strong on the defensive end for New Haven with three steals. The freshman guard also had a pair of assists in his 10 minutes of work.

The Chargers will travel to Seton Hall on Tuesday, Nov. 18, to continue their non-conference schedule. Tipoff is scheduled for 7:00 p.m. from the Prudential Center.
