NEWARK, N.J. – New Haven Men's Basketball traveled to the Prudential Center on Tuesday night for a matchup with the Pirates of Seton Hall University. A tough night shooting played a role in the Chargers loss to the Pirates, 68-45.
A 34.7% (17-49) clip from the field, including hitting only six three pointers, hurt the Chargers. Seton Hall's 48.1% (26-54) from the field and 40.0% (8-20) from deep allowed itself to pull away from New Haven and remain undefeated on the young season.
Andre Pasha (Syracuse, N.Y./Syracuse Academy of Science) led the way for the Blue & Gold, netting himself 15 points and pulling down a team-high five rebounds.
Jabri Fitzpatrick (North Brunswick, N.J./North Brunswick) also collected five boards and was a threat in the passing lanes, coming away with three steals.
Seton Hall's advantage height-wise played big, as the Pirates doubled up the Chargers on points in the paint, scoring 32 in the lane as New Haven found itself with 16.
Vere Anthony (Queens, N.Y./St. Francis Preparatory School) set career highs in points (seven) and minutes (24) in the game, providing New Haven with a spark off the bench.
