CINCINNATI, Ohio – New Haven Women's Basketball opened its 2025-26 season with a loss at Xavier University on Tuesday night.

Debbie Buff shared after the game that the "team really put time into preparation and competed the whole game. Aniya [McDonald-Perry] was outstanding with 13 and 13. Sky was great and was pressured the whole night. We out rebounded them by seven. [I'm] extremely proud of this team."
New Haven fell behind 33-18 at halftime, but found its groove in the second half, outscoring the Musketeers 28-20.
Anyia McDonald-Perry paced the Blue & Gold with 13 points and 13 rebounds, her third double-double since arriving at New Haven.
Schuyler Coles (Harrisburg, Pa./Susquehanna Township) added nine points of her own in the game.
Renelle Grannum (Baldwin, N.Y./Baldwin) played the maestro role, leading the team in assists with four.
New Haven's 10 second-chance points came due to its advantage in rebounds. Grannum (seven),
Addisen Sulikowski (Saco, ME/Thornton Academy) (six), and
Lindsay Hogan (Bayville, N.Y./Locust Valley) (five) all played big roles in keeping possessions alive for the Chargers.
New Haven held Xavier to just 34.6% shooting from the field (18-52) and 7.1% (1-14) from distance. Sulikowski and Hogan each recorded a block in the contest.
New Haven is in action next on Sunday, Nov. 9, when it will open up its home schedule against the Iona University Gaels. Opening tip from The Hazell Center will arrive at 1:00 p.m.
