WEST HAVEN, Conn. – New Haven Women's Basketball opened up its home schedule with a 57-45 loss to the Gaels of Iona University.
Schuyler Coles' (Harrisburg, Pa./Susquehanna Township) 10-point effort led the Chargers as a team.
A 36% (18-50) shooting night, including 23.1% (3-13) from distance, doomed the Chargers in the home opener. At the other end of the floor, Iona shot 32.3% (21-65) from the field, and 12.5% (3-24) from beyond the arc.
17 turnovers from the Blue & Gold led to 11 points for Iona. Iona also scored 11 second-chance points off of offensive rebounds.
Addisen Sulikowski's (Saco, ME/Thornton Academy) six rebounds led New Haven. Iona's Isabellah Middleton poured in 17 points and grabbed 10 rebounds for a double-double.

Debbie Buff said, "We held them to 32% shooting. We need to hit open shots and our veterans need to step up. Iona is a good team."
New Haven hosts SUNY Purchase on Wednesday, Nov. 12. Game time is slated for 6:00 p.m.
