Second-Half Push Not Enough as New Haven Falls to Columbia

WEST HAVEN, Conn. – New Haven Men's Basketball opened its home schedule on Friday afternoon with a 71-53 loss at The Hazell Center. Najimi George (Bridgeport, Conn./Kolbe Cathedral) led the Blue & Gold with 15 points.

New Haven experienced a rough night shooting, finishing with a 31.6% clip (18-57) from the field and just 21.1% (4-19) from distance.

The Chargers made a big improvement on their attempts at the line, going 13-16 (81.3%) compared to a 42.9% (6-14) conversion rate at UConn on Monday night.

George's 15 led New Haven and was a game-high scoring output, while Andre Pasha (Syracuse, N.Y./Syracuse Academy of Science) (11) and Jabri Fitzpatrick (North Brunswick, N.J./North Brunswick) (10) also finished in double-digits.

Despite being down 42-18 at the half, a 35-29 second-half total gives New Haven some momentum rolling into the second half of its back-to-back, as it hosts Penn State University on Saturday.

New Haven is back in action Saturday, Nov. 9, as it hosts Big Ten Conference foe Penn State University. Opening tip is set for 1:00 p.m. at The Hazell Center.
