BRONX, N.Y. – New Haven Men's Basketball fell on the road to Fordham University in its final game before the holiday break. The Blue & Gold played a close first half, but the Rams opened things up in the second, cruising to a 65-47 win.
Jabri Fitzpatrick's (North Brunswick, N.J./North Brunswick) 10 points led the Chargers in the loss.
Andre Pasha (Syracuse, N.Y./Syracuse Academy of Science) followed with eight.
Stefano Faloppa's (Portogruaro, Italy/Holy Cross Prep) six rebounds led the team. Fitzpatrick, Pasha, and
Zoumana Traore (Harlem, N.Y./Millbrook School) all pulled down three misses. Pasha and
Najimi George (Bridgeport, Conn./Kolbe Cathedral) each finished with a trio of assists.
In the first half, New Haven shot 41.7% (10-24) from the field, including hitting three of eleven three-point attempts (27.3%). The shooting performance dipped in the second half to 33.3% (10-30) from the field and 25.0% from deep (3-12). Overall, New Haven shot 37.0% (20-54) from the field, 26.1% (6-23) from beyond the arc, and 50.0% (1-2) from the free-throw line.
Fordham won the rebounding battle 38-24, scored more points off turnovers (16-9), got more production from its bench (24-13), and scored more in the paint (40-28) in the win.
New Haven will close out the non-conference portion of its schedule on Monday, Dec. 29, at Vanderbilt University. Opening tipoff is slated to arrive at 6:00 p.m.
