West Haven, Conn. - With seven different Chargers finding the hoop, the University of New Haven Women's basketball team dropped a home decision to No. 4 Bentley 51-41 on Saturday afternoon at the Jeffery P. Hazell Athletics Center. With the loss, New Haven falls to 13-7 on the season and 8-6 in the Northeast-10 Conference.
Leading the Chargers in the game was
Schuyler Coles (Harrisburg, Pa./Susquehanna Township) who finished with a game high 13 points, the only player in double figures. The freshman guard finished game shooting 5-of-10 from the floor and adding two free throws. Coach Deborah Buff said, "the freshman guard played like a veteran today."
Joining Coles in the scoring column each finishing the game with seven points was graduate center
Paige Cote (Sanford, Maine/Sanford) and junior
Lindsay Hogan (Bayville, N.Y./Locust Valley).
The Blue and Gold out rebound Bentley 28-27 with a game high coming from
Charlotte Bassett (Glastonbury, Conn./Glastonbury). Another note coach Buff added was this was the lowest point total Bentley had been held to this season so far.
Chargers next game is another road trip to Manchester, New Hampshire to face the Hawks of Saint Anselm College on February 5 at 5:30 pm. The next time the Chargers are home is to honor five seniors for senior day against the American International College on February 8 at 1:30 pm.
