Charger's Win Streak Continues

New Haven Dominates Saint Anselm 17-6 in New Hampshire

The New Haven Chargers (8-3) put on a dominant performance against Saint Anselm (8-3) on Wednesday afternoon, securing a 17-6 victory at Grappone Stadium in Manchester, NH.

Gianna Caprioli (Clinton Corners, N.Y., Franklin Delano Roosevelt) led the way for the Chargers with a stellar four-goal performance, while Katie Schenk (Southbury, Conn., Pomperaug, Endicott) added three goals and three assists. Helena Dunwoody (East Greenwich, R.I., East Greenwich) scored three times, Caitlin Seleny (Derry, N.H., Pinkerton) found the back of the net twice, and Lindsey Belmonte (Yaphank, N.Y., Bellport) contributed two goals as well. New Haven's offensive depth was on full display, with multiple players contributing to the scoring effort.

The first quarter saw a back-and-forth battle, with Saint Anselm briefly taking the lead, 3-2. However, New Haven closed the quarter strong, finishing with a 4-3 advantage. From there, the Chargers took control, shutting out Saint Anselm in the second and third quarters, building an insurmountable 14-3 lead by the start of the fourth.

Despite a late surge from the Hawks, with goals from Jaycie Balboni, Brianna Fruci, and Alyssa Hill, the Chargers remained in control, eventually sealing the win with a final score of 17-6.

New Haven's defense and goalkeeping were also solid. The Chargers finished the game with 33 shots and 28 on goal, compared to Saint Anselm's 21 shots and 9 on target. New Haven dominated in draw controls (17-8), and despite a few penalties, their efficiency in all areas of the game was evident.

With the win, New Haven continues their strong season, improving to 8-3, while Saint Anselm falls to 8-3. The Chargers will look to maintain their momentum in their next match vs Bentley on Saturday April 5th at Kathy Zolad Stadium.
