WEST HAVEN, Conn. – The University of New Haven is pleased to announce its Athletics Hall of Fame Class of 2025 will be inducted on October 3, 2025, at Racebrook Country Club. This group is the 37th class that the University will enshrine and the first class since 2022.
This year's class joins 191 individuals and one team, bringing the tradition of excellence at New Haven to now 196 athletes with the five athletes being recognized this year. This year's class is composed of David Loane, Ashley Ferrandiz, Scott Emmert, Phil Bogle, and Christina Gelardi.
David Loane (Football, 1987-1990)
Loane, a standout offensive lineman for the Chargers, hails from Stonington, CT and started all but one game for the Chargers from his sophomore to senior seasons. The epitome of reliability up front, Loane was named to the All-New England Second Team in back-to-back seasons, in 1988 and 1989. Across his four seasons in the Blue and Gold, the Chargers won 30 of 40 games. Following his time at UNH, Loane went on to play for the New Jersey Raiders in semi-pro football. He co-founded the Loane Family Fuel Fund in 2022, providing free nutrition and supplements to student-athletes. Additionally, he established the Ingram Lee Foundation Memorial Endowed Scholarship Fund at the University of New Haven, helping to support students' education
Ashley Ferrandiz (Women's Lacrosse, 2008-2012)
Ferrandiz is the all-time leader in New Haven's women's lacrosse history in points with 314 on 186 goals and 128 assists. The midfielder is one of two Chargers all-time with over 300 points. Ferrandiz is also first all-time in assists and is one of only three members of the program with over 100 assists in her career. She ranks second all-time in ground balls (209) and games played (76) while sitting third in goals, caused turnovers (107), and sixth in draw controls (181) and free-position goals (38). Ferrandiz is a two-time All-American, three-time All-Region, and five-time All-Conference selection.
Scott Emmert (Football, 1989-1992)
Emmert, a native of Manchester, NH, also was a mainstay in the trenches for the Chargers, as he started in all four years of his collegiate career. Over his four years, the Blue and Gold posted a 30-13 record. Emmert racked up awards for his play, beginning in 1990 with NEFW Second Team honors. From there, he moved up to the First Team in 1991 and 1992. Emmert was also named a Kodak All-American and AP Small College Team in 1992 and All-ECAC in 1992. Emmert and the Chargers earned the program's first NCAA playoff berth in 1992 where they defeated West Chester and Ferris State in the first two playoff games in New Haven history.
Phil Bogle (Football, 1999-2002)
Another offensive lineman from the Chargers history of dominant fronts, Bogle earned First-Team All-America honors from the AFCA in 2002. In that same year, he earned MVP honors of the Division II All-Star Game at the Cactus Bowl. In the previous year, Bogle was an honorable mention All-American while also being named to All-New England, and All-ECAC. After his time at New Haven, Bogle signed with the San Diego (now Los Angeles Chargers), and helped the Philadelphia Soul to three Arena Bowl Championships from 2013 - 2019. Bogle currently works for the NFL.
Christina Gelardi (Softball, 2010-2013)
A career .400 hitter, Gelardi became the first All-American in New Haven softball program history in 2013. Gelardi began her career at New Haven with an NE-10 Rookie of the Year win. Throughout her 165 games, Gerardi walked 87 times while striking out only 60. Gerardi ranks third all-time in New Haven softball history in hitting (.400), second in slugging (.596), and first in on-base percentage (.515). Her career OPS of 1.111 is also among the highest in program history. Gelardi and the Chargers reached the NCAA Tournament in 2010, 2011, and 2013.
