WEST HAVEN, Conn. – New Haven Women's Soccer took its first loss of the season, losing to the Brown University Bears, 3-0, on home turf in front of a capacity crowd.
The story of the match was the Bears' attack. Brown ended with 39 shot attempts, with 18 on goal. New Haven goalkeeper Caitlin Daley (Norwich, Conn./Norwich Free Academy) finished with 15 saves, including denying a penalty kick in the 76th minute. 15 saves is a new career-high for the senior from Norwich, Conn.
Joy Okonye found the back of the net twice for the Bears. Ayla Sahin also got on the scoresheet with a tally just minutes into the second half.
New Haven is back in action on Thursday, Aug. 28 at home against the Seawolves of Stony Brook University. Kickoff for the Thursday night matchup is scheduled to arrive at 6:00 p.m.
