WEST HAVEN, Conn. – New Haven Women's Soccer hosted the UMass Lowell Riverhawks on Sunday afternoon and came away with a 5-1 loss at Kathy Zolad Stadium.
Caitlin Daley (Norwich, Conn./Norwich Free Academy) started the game in net for New Haven, registering 19 saves on 24 shots. The 19 saves are a career-high for the senior from Norwich, Conn.
Jordan Galica (Vernon, Conn./Rockville) played the final eight minutes of the match in between the pipes for New Haven and picked up a pair of saves.
Emma Mitchell (Edinburgh, Scotland/Liberton) found the back of the net in the 53rd minute for the Blue & Gold. Mitchell took a header from
Caleigh Wynter (Bay Shore, NY) and chipped a shot from just outside the penalty area over the outstretched arm of the Rverhawks' keeper, getting the Chargers on the board.
New Haven will open NEC play on Thursday, Sept. 18, as it hosts Stonehill College at 6:00 p.m.
