PHILADELPHIA, Pa. – New Haven Field Hockey traveled south to the City of Brotherly Love to visit the La Salle University Explorers on Friday afternoon. New Haven scored its first goal of the season, but fell to the Explorers, 9-1.
Jalia Cooper (Millville, N.J./Saint Joseph Academy) scored New Haven's first goal at the Division I level just five minutes into the second half. Cooper's goal was set up by
Emma Beaujouan (Concord, N.H./Concord), and made the game 2-1.
From there, the Explorers responded with seven unanswered goals en route to victory.
Cara Lambert (Sutton, Mass./Sutton Memorial) played all 60 minutes and finished with 11 saves on 20 shots faced.
New Haven is in action next on Friday, Sept. 12, at DellaCamera Stadium against Sacred Heart University. Game time is slated for 6:00 p.m.
