SYRACUSE, N.Y. – With an unbeaten record on the line through three games at the Division I level, New Haven Men's Soccer traveled to Syracuse for a matchup against the Orange on Monday night. Goalkeeper
Alessandro Bizzini (Imola Bologna, Italy/Liceo Scientifico Valeriani) made a career-high eight saves in the match, keeping New Haven's unbeaten record intact.
Among his eight saves came a stop on a penalty kick in the second minute. The Italian keeper dove to his left and made the one-hand block look easy, setting the tone for New Haven.
In front of Bizzini was the back line of the Blue & Gold, which held the athleticism of Syracuse at bay all night. The Chargers kept the ball out of their net despite facing eight opposing corner kicks and numerous scoring chances throughout the match.
New Haven opens up its home schedule on Saturday, Sept. 13, against George Washington University. Opening kickoff is set for 6:00 p.m. from Kathy Zolad Stadium.
