NORTH EASTON, Mass. – New Haven Men's Basketball played in its first-ever NEC game on Friday night, at Stonehill College. In the NEC opener, New Haven picked up its first NEC win, 70-55.
New Haven finished the first half ahead by five, thanks to nine points and a perfect three-for-three distance shooting half from
Aidan Losiewicz (Douglas, Mass./Newman School). The Blue & Gold finished the first half shooting 63.7% (7-11) from beyond the arc and 48.2% (14-29) from the field.
The dominance in the second half continued as New Haven played to a 34-24 advantage in the final 20 minutes. Overall, the Blue & Gold shot 43.5% (10-23) from deep, good a new season high, and 46.6% (27-58) from the field.
Najimi George (Bridgeport, Conn./Kolbe Cathedral) finished with 14 points, tied for the game high. Losiewicz (13),
Stefano Faloppa (Portogruaro, Italy/Holy Cross Prep) (11),
Jabri Fitzpatrick (North Brunswick, N.J./North Brunswick) (10), and
Kheni Briggs (Kennapolis, N.C./The Burlington School) (10) all finished in double digits for the game.
Teshaun Steele's (Worcester, Mass./Darrow School) seven rebounds paced the Chargers, while Fitzpatrick brought down six boards and dished out a game-high six assists.
New Haven will travel to in-state rival CCSU on Sunday. Opening tip between the Chargers and Blue Devils will arrive at 1:00 p.m.
