LORETTO, Pa. – New Haven Women's Basketball split its Western Pennsylvania weekend, ending with a 61-60 win over St. Francis. A heroic effort from
Addisen Sulikowski (Saco, ME/Thornton Academy) played a vital role in the Blue & Gold securing the win.
Sulikowski's 27 points are a career-high, as the sophomore went 11-14 (78.6%) from the field and 5-7 (71.4%) from beyond the arc. Sulikowski also finished with six rebounds in her career day.
Lindsay Hogan (Bayville, N.Y./Locust Valley), who played all 40 minutes, put the Chargers ahead by four with nine seconds remaining, as she hit a pair of free throws. Those shots came up big as the Red Flash hit a three-pointer at the buzzer, which could have tied or won the game had Hogan not been perfect at the line.
Teaira Kelley (Monroe, Ga./Walnut Grove) also had a strong game, contributing 10 points in 33 minutes of work. The freshman started her first game since Dec. 3 at Siena, and held up well in her expanded role.
"Very gutsy performance. I told them in pregame that we need to refuse to lose and we did just that. We had a couple of players get in early foul trouble but our bench stepped up. Addi hit some big threes and T hit some big shots. If I wanted any player on the line to ice the game, it is Lindsay and she hit 2 for 2! Our defense played big with a tie game,"
Debbie Buff said postgame.
New Haven will next host Mercyhurst on Thursday, Jan. 29, at 6:00 p.m.
