WEST HAVEN, Conn. – New Haven Women's Basketball fell in overtime at home on Thursday night to the Mercyhurst Lakers, 81-75.
Aniya McDonald-Perry (Middletown, Conn./Putnam Science Academy) continued her torrid play with 25 points, six rebounds, four assists, and four blocks in the loss.
McDonald-Perry converted 13 of 14 attempts from the free-throw line while finishing 6-9 (66.7%) from the field. She was supported by fellow senior
Lindsay Hogan (Bayville, N.Y./Locust Valley), who finished with 16 and five rebounds, and reigning NEC Co-Player of the Week,
Addisen Sulikowski (Saco, ME/Thornton Academy), who finished with 14 points and seven rebounds. The trio all played at least 41 minutes in the game.
The Blue & Gold jumped out to a 12-9 lead after the first quarter and saw it grow to 34-26 at halftime. A 27-point third quarter for the Lakers sparked a comeback that ended in a 12-6 overtime period win.
The Chargers held an advantage in points in the paint, 34-28, but were playing catch up in points off turnovers (21-13), bench points (14-8), and second-chance points (13-9).
"We played hard and first half was one of our better halves against a good Mercyhurst team. They shot unreal second half,"
Debbie Buff said following the contest.
New Haven will host St. Francis University on Saturday at 1:00 p.m. Prior to the game, the program will honor its class of 2026 graduates.
