SPARTANBURG, S.C. — New Haven women's lacrosse (1-1) faced a 21-15 road loss against Wofford College (1-3) on Friday at Gibbs Stadium. Despite tallying a season-high 15 goals, New Haven's efforts, including 20 shots on goal and 15 draw controls, fell short. Wofford maintained control with four power-play goals, holding the lead throughout the game.
The matchup began with Wofford's Sara Fenwick scoring at 14:26, assisted by Kaitlyn Bellanca. Wofford continued their momentum as Emma Stalteri scored at 12:39, assisted by Katie Brosseau.
Summer Castiglione (Brick, N.J./Brick Memorial) put New Haven on the board at 8:11 with a goal, but Wofford responded strongly. McKenzie Moeller and Stalteri added to Wofford's lead, closing the first quarter 7-1.
In the second quarter, New Haven outscored Wofford 5-4. Ella Bartlett opened with a goal for Wofford, but
Helena Dunwoody (East Greenwich, R.I./East Greenwich), assisted by Castiglione, answered for New Haven. Dunwoody finished with a season-high of 5 goals. Contributions from

Taryn Murphy (Bohemia, N.Y./Connetquot), both assisted by Seleny, score early, but Wofford replied with a series of goals, including a man-up goal from Stalteri. Wofford ended the quarter ahead 17-11. New Haven's efforts to close the gap were thwarted by Wofford's defense, including a crucial save by Hannah Taylor.
In the final quarter, Dunwoody scored at 10:17, but Wofford's Ella Davis and Carlie Cutinella extended their lead. Despite New Haven's late free-position goals from
Maren Lowell (Nashua, N.H./Nashua South) and Seleny, Wofford's Ava Santanastasio clinched the victory at 1:17.
