WEST HAVEN, Conn. – New Haven Women's Basketball hosted LIU on Thursday night in front of a strong crowd at The Hazell Center. The Sharks came away with the win, 65-46.
New Haven kept it close in the first quarter, trailing 14-13 after the first 10 minutes. The Sharks would widen the gap in the second quarter, taking a 33-24 lead into the locker room.
The game was New Haven's toughest night shooting this season. The Blue & Gold could only convert on 15-55 (27.3%) of its shots while missing all 11 attempts from deep.
Aniya McDonald-Perry (Middletown, Conn./Putnam Science Academy) (eight) and
Teaira Kelley (Monroe, Ga./Walnut Grove) (seven) led New Haven on the glass while Kelley registered half of the team's six assists. Kelley's nine points also paced the offense.
New Haven will travel to the Windy City for a 2 p.m. Saturday afternoon matchup with the Chicago State Cougars next time out.
