HAMILTON, N.Y. — New Haven field hockey (0-1, 0-0) fell to Colgate (1-0, 0-0) with a final score of 5-0 on Friday evening at Tyler's Field. The Chargers managed three total shots, with one on goal, while their goalkeeper recorded 12 saves against Colgate's 32 shots.
The first period commenced with Colgate taking an early lead against New Haven. Caroline Rotteveel opened the scoring at 2:08 with assistance from Ava Poliafico, putting Colgate ahead 1-0. Just under two minutes later, Ava Poliafico extended the lead to 2-0, with Aiden Cronk providing the assist at 3:57. New Haven's defense faced sustained pressure, as goalkeeper Raegan Kline made key saves against shots from Morgan Willis and Olivia Milia. The period concluded with Colgate maintaining its 2-0 advantage.
Colgate extended its lead early in the second period with a goal by Minah Cho at 17:44, assisted by Morgan Willis, bringing the score to 3-0.
