WEST HAVEN, Conn. — New Haven women's soccer lost to Stonehill 3-0 on Thursday at Kathy Zolad Stadium. The Chargers were held to five shots, three on goal, while facing 12 Stonehill shots and making six saves.
New Haven went into halftime down 2-0 after Stonehill scored twice in the opening 20 minutes and the Chargers were unable to convert a penalty kick. Earlier, Mariana Alves put New Haven's first shot on frame in the second minute,
Jordan Galica (Vernon, Conn./Rockville) answered with a save at the other end, and the Chargers earned a corner in the sixth minute. Stonehill broke through on Dani Lomuscio's goal in the 14th minute and added a second through Erin Foley in the 20th before

The Chargers held Stonehill off the scoreboard for nearly all of the second half, with Galica making five saves before Allyson Cullingford scored off a Dani Lomuscio assist at 88:06 to make it 3-0. Earlier, Alves sent a shot wide in the 63rd minute, and
Molly Heras (Pt. Pleasant, NJ/Point Pleasant Borough High School) put a shot on frame at 67:23 that Allie Sougaris saved. Galica handled Stonehill's second-half pressure by stopping Kayla Cassidy twice, Annie Renz once, and Lomuscio once during a stretch that included three Stonehill corner kicks. Samson added the Chargers' final shot on goal at 83:51, but Sougaris saved it, and Stonehill finished with the late goal in a 3-0 final.
Galica recorded six saves over 90 minutes in goal. Alves led New Haven with two shots, including one on goal. Heras put her lone shot attempt on frame.
