PROVIDENCE, R.I. — New Haven Field Hockey lost to Providence 11-0 on Friday. The Chargers were held without a shot, and their goalkeepers combined for 15 saves as Providence put 26 of 42 shots on goal.
Providence quickly took control, scoring six goals in the first quarter. Carly van Benten started the scoring at 2:02, and by the end of the quarter, the home team led 6-0. The Chargers managed to keep the second quarter scoreless, but Providence continued their dominance in the second half, adding five more goals to secure the 11-0 victory.
