Chris DeMorais

Chris DeMorais spent four years on the Chargers coaching staff from 2016-2019. DeMorais previously served as a graduate assistant, then a volunteer assistant from 2016-2018, before being promoted to the team's top assistant for the 2019 season.

He helped coach the Chargers to a program record 39 wins and the No. 1 seed in the NCAA East Region Tournament in 2018.

DeMorais’ coaching career follows a four-year playing career for the Chargers, which culminated with the Tampa Bay Rays selecting him in the 38th round (1,147th overall) of the 2014 Major League Baseball First-Year Player Draft, becoming the 44th New Haven player selected by a Major League organization. DeMorais was twice named to the Northeast-10 All-Conference Second Team, selected to the ABCA All-East Region Second Team as a junior, and a four-time member of the NE10 Commissioner’s Honor Roll.

The outfielder finished his career with a .310/.363/.417 slash line in 136 games, all but three of which were starts. DeMorais mashed 33 doubles, five homers and 86 RBI during his four seasons of calling Frank Vieira Field home.

As a junior in 2013, DeMorais started in all 46 games, batting a career-high .352 while knocking in 32 runs and scoring 30, as New Haven won the Northeast-10 Conference championship and reached the NCAA tournament for the 27th time in program history

DeMorais graduated in 2014 with a degree in management of sports industries, and earned his MBA from New Haven in 2017.

A West Hartford, Conn. native, DeMorais is a licensed realtor.
