Mike Susi will be entering his first season with the University of New Haven, after spending eight seasons as the assistant coach at the University of Hartford. Susi’s responsibilities will include defensive work with the outfielders and assistance with the hitters.
Susi has an extensive coaching background, spanning over 13 years. Prior to Hartford he was an assistant at Manchester Community Technical College (1996-1997), Eastern Connecticut State University (1999-2001) and Mitchell College (2002). Susi has also managed in the New England Collegiate Baseball League for the Eastern Tides (2001,2002). With the Tides in 2001, Susi led the team to a 24-16 record and qualified for the playoffs for the first time in eight years. He was named the NECBL’s Coach of the Year (2001) and was selected to manage the American Division All-Star team in 2002.
As a player Susi remains in the record books for Eastern Connecticut State University as ninth all-time for career batting average (.379).
