    Graduate Assistant Baseball Coach

Nick Russo served two years as a graduate assistant coach for the 2018 and 2019 seasons. As a member of the coaching staff, Russo helped guide the Chargers to a program record 39 wins in 2018 and the No. 1 seed in the NCAA East Regional Tournament. Russo joined the New Haven coaching staff after a four-year playing career for the Chargers from 2014-2017, helping lead the team to the 2017 Northeast 10 Conference title and an appearance in the NCAA Tournament.

As a junior in 2016, Russo posted a career-high .282 batting average, tying for the team lead with 28 runs scored and nine stolen bases. He ranked second on the team with 40 hits and was third with a .372 on-base percentage. He also set a New Haven single-season record with 14 hit by pitches.

As a sophomore in 2015, Russo was one of five Chargers to start in all 33 games and led the team with 10 doubles. Russo was a member of the NE10 Commissioner’s Honor Roll all four years and was a recipient of the D2ADA Academic Achievement Award.

A native of Shirley, N.Y., Russo graduated with a bachelor’s degree in management of sports industries in 2017, and earned his MBA from the University in May 2019.
