Logan Sharpe

Logan Sharpe returns for his third season as the head men’s track and field coach at the University of New Haven in 2018-19.

In 2018, Sharpe coached Riley Knebes, who became the first individual All-American for the New Haven women’s track and field program since Ada Udaya (100- and 200-meter dash) and Briana Conyers (triple jump) were named All-Americans in 2015. Knebes placed fifth in the 400-meter hurdles at the Division II Outdoor National Championships in Charlotte, North Carolina (59.77). In the indoor season that same year, Knebes qualified for the Indoor National Championships in the 400-meter dash with an NCAA provisional time of 55.61 seconds. She won both the NE10 and New England Championships in those same events.

As of 2018, Knebes holds the women’s indoor record in the 500-meter run (1:13.71) and 600-meter run (1:36.29) and the women’s outdoor record in the 400-meter hurdles (59.25). She is also part of the record-holding women’s 4x400 relay team with Ivy Watta, Marshae Holt and Ada Udaya (3:44.73).

Sharpe spent the past two seasons working with the Southern Connecticut State University Owls sprinters and hurdlers. During his tenure as an assistant coach at SCSU, the Owls posted a first place finish in the NE-10 Outdoor Championships in 2015, while finishing second at the indoor and outdoor championships this past season. In addition, Southern Connecticut finished third out of 38 teams at the 2016 New England Outdoor Championship, including multiple top-eight finishes in the sprint and hurdle events.

A nine-time All-American at Southern Connecticut, Sharpe brings a high level of success to the program. His achievements on the track came in the 400 meter hurdles and as a member of the 4x400 and distance medley relays. As a senior, the Esperance, N.Y. native earned All-America honors in the hurdles and the 4x400 while also being named the United States Track and Field and Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA) Indoor and Outdoor Track Athlete of the Year.

In addition, Sharpe was named the 2014 Northeast-10 Conference Track Athlete of the Year and was a two-time East Region Athlete of the Year. As a post-collegiate runner, he qualified for the 2015 Indoor USA Championships in the 600 meter run where he finished 12th overall with a time of 1:19.37.
