Billy De La Espriella enters his first season with the Charger coaching staff after an outstanding career at Springfield College. During his tenure at Springfield, the Pride captured two NCAA Division III National Championships (2017, 2018), were the national champion runner-up in 2016, and were ranked as high as No. 1 in the nation. He was also a three-year captain of the team.

A 6-6 outside hitter, De La Espriella appeared in 45 total matches at Springfield, compiling 186 total kills (1.98 k/s) with an attacking percentage of .390. He also finished with 31 total blocks, 65 digs, and 20 service aces. De La Espriella put down a career-high 13 kills against MIT in 2018, also hitting a career-high .684 that match.

Prior to Springfield, De La Espriella was a member of the Division I Men’s Volleyball team at California State University of Northridge.

De La Espriella graduated in May of 2018 with a degree in Applied Exercise Science with a concentration in strength and conditioning. While at New Haven, De La Espriella is pursuing his master’s degree in computer science.Â
