Game One
Once again, UNH got on the board early with runs in the first inning. The Chargers added two runs with big bats from the top of their lineup. Christina Gelardi (Derby, Conn./Derby) tripled down the right field line to start off the inning and scored off an error from the right fielder. Breanne Gleason (Bristol, Conn./Bristol Central ) followed that up with a double to left field. Nicole Downs (Seymour, Conn./Seymour) capped off the sequence with an RBI double to left field that allowed Gleason to score and give New Haven the 2-0 lead.

UNH extended the lead to 4-0 in the third inning. Gleason added her second double of the game to lead off the inning and Downs brought Gleason and herself home on a home run.

The Chargers, behind pitcher Keri Tricinelli (Brick, N.J./Monsignor Donovan), kept the Dragons off the board through the fourth inning, but MSU ended the shutout in the top of the fifth with two runs. The Dragons also added a run in the top of the sixth

UNH added a single run in the fifth off a double from Amy Nepi (New Castle, Del./St. Elizabeth ) that allowed Tricinelli to score.

In the bottom of the sixth the Chargers added three security runs to extend the lead to 8-3. Courtney Garland (East Meadow, N.Y./East Meadow ) doubled to start off the inning and then advanced to third from an error from the MSU pitcher that also put Chelsea Harold (Oxford, Conn./Seymour ) on first. Gelardi added her second hit of the game with a well placed single to left that brought in Garland. Harold then scored when Downs grounded out to second. Trincelli drove in Gelardi for the final run of the game.

Downs paced the Chargers with two hits and four RBIs, while Gleason, Gelardi and Trincelli each added two hits. Trincelli pitched five innings, while Gleason closed the game with two - both stricking out three apiece.
