Baseball Set for NCAA East Region Championship

WEST HAVEN, Conn. - The University of New Haven baseball team opens the 2010 NCAA Division II East Region Championship tournament on Thursday, May 13 against Stonehill College at Yale Field in New Haven. The opening pitch is slated for 7 p.m.

Ranked third in the NCAA East Region, the Chargers hope to defeated the red-hot fourth ranked Skyhawks, winners of the Northeast-10 Conference Championship and eleven straight.

The four-day championship tournament features six teams in a double elimination bracket. The winner of the region advances to the Division II College World Series in North Carolina.

Games throughout the tournament will be broadcast live online with Jon Mozes calling the action on WNHU 88.7 FM in greater New Haven. The webcast can be found online at www.ChargerRadio.net. Tickets for each day of the championship are $8 for adults, $5 for students and $5 for senior citizens. Should the Charger win Thursday, they will advance to take on the winner of (2) Franklin Pierce and (5) C.W. Post on Friday night at 7 p.m. If New Haven drops its opening round game, they play the winner if (1) Southern Connecticut and (6) Dominican at 3 p.m. on Friday afternoon.
