With the loss the Chargers are eliminated from the championship and fall to 38-6 overall. American International stays alive in the tournament at 26-25.
Nationally ranked No. 10, the Chargers were the first to get on the scoreboard Saturday morning.

Nicole Downs (Seymour, Conn./Seymour) drove her in two batters later with sacrifice bunt to first base. The run ended up being the only run of the day for the Chargers.
The game, which was halted in the top of the sixth inning, was delayed for over two hours because of thunder storms which passed through the Greater New Haven area.
After a strikeout and a fly out ended the top of the sixth, American International capitalized with four hits and two runs in the bottom of the inning. Becky Dion hit a two-out, two-RBI double to right center which put the Yellow Jackets ahead for good. In the top of the seventh inning, AIC retired three-of-four UNH batters and claimed the upset.
The Chargers managed just three hits in 23 at bats Saturday. AIC's pitcher threw the complete game and tossed 10 strikeouts. She walked one and allowed only three hits.
