WEST HAVEN, Conn. - The University of New Haven baseball team concludes the 2010 season third in the National Collegiate Baseball Writers Association's East Region Poll. It's the fourth-straight week the Chargers were ranked in third place.
The Chargers finished the season with a 31-15 overall record and advanced to the NCAA Division II Baseball Championship for the first time since 2006. The baseball student-athletes also earned a number of postseason honors, including
Mitch Rossi (Bristol, Conn./Bristol Central) earning All-American Honorable Mention and
Ryan Brockett (Guilford, Conn./Guilford ) earned the East Region Gold Glove Award at shortstop.
Southern Connecticut State University finished in first place in the poll with a 35-11 record, while Franklin Pierce University jumped into the second spot with a 36-14 record.
