Game One Box Score

Game Two Box Score

WEST HAVEN, Conn. - Junior Shannon Angehr registered her team-leading fourth homerun of the season on Saturday afternoon, as the University of New Haven softball team cruised past Bentley with a pair of 5-2 victories at the UNH Softball Field. With the triumphs, UNH improved to 21-3 all-time against the Falcons, 21-12 on the season and 11-7 in the Northeast-10 Conference.

Down 2-0 in the bottom of the fourth inning of game one, Christina Gelardi led off with a triple to right center and would eventually reach home after a fielding error from the Falcons. The hit fueled a momentum change as New Haven would go on to record four more runs in the fifth and sixth innings.
Chelsea Harold had a RBI double in the sixth to tie the ballgame at two each. Two batters later, with the bases loaded, two more runs crossed home plate as Gelardi reached first on a fielding error from Bentley. The Chargers would add an insurance run in the sixth as they took game one by the score of 5-2.

Both teams connected for five hits each in the game but six costly errors from Bentley gave New Haven the advantage. Alana Wesche threw for the Chargers, allowing just one earned run and striking out six en route to her ninth win of the season.

Game two was a different story with the same result. New Haven took a lead in the bottom of the second and never looked back. Brooke Fisher and Lucy Francisco each recorded a double in the inning to put the Chargers on the board first.

After a scoreless third inning, New Haven added two more runs in both the fourth and fifth innings as they pulled ahead, 5-0. Angehr notched her fourth home run of the season in the fourth as she connected on a deep shot over the right field fence to drive in Brenna Weidman. Keri Tricinelli was responsible for the Chargers fifth run of the game in the next inning with a double down the left field line.
New Haven faced a brief scare in the top of the seventh inning as Bentley scored their first two runs of the game, however, the lead was too significant as they pulled away for another 5-2 win.

Micah Stonesifer recorded her 10th win of the season by throwing a complete game, three hit outing without allowing an earned run. Fisher was 2-for-3 and scored a run to lead the team offensively.

The Chargers are back in action on Wednesday, April 20 to host Assumption. Game time is scheduled for 3 p.m.
